Grateful and Overwhelmed: Three Appointments, One Deep Breath

💥 Preventive care is still care—and this week, it’s hitting differently.💥

The results are in—and your girl tested positive for the BRCA2 gene.

I knew this was a possibility, but hearing it out loud? It hit different.

Suddenly, "preventive care" isn’t just a box to check—it’s my lifeline.

Preventive care is still care—and this week, it’s hitting differently.

📞 Now I’ve got three new appointments on my calendar:

👩🏽‍⚕️ Gyne-Oncologist

🎗️ Breast Oncologist

🥗 Nutritionist

All for preventive care. All via Telehealth. And while I’m truly grateful things are being caught early and there’s a plan to move forward, I gotta be honest—this shit ain’t easy.

Let’s be real:Preventive care is still care.It takes time.It takes energy. And it stirs up a lot—especially when you're already running on fumes.Getting that call didn’t feel like relief. It felt like one more thing piled on an already overwhelming season. And I found myself thinking,“How much more can I juggle?”

Here’s the truth I’ve learned:

✅ You can feel grateful for care and still want to scream.

✅ You can appreciate Telehealth and still feel emotionally drained.

✅ You can know it’s important—and still feel completely overwhelmed.

That’s not weakness.That’s honesty.

These appointments? They’re not just calendar events. They’re reminders—of everything I’ve already been through, and everything I’m still facing. Each one carries its own weight, its own “what ifs,” and yeah... its own emotional baggage.

And yet…🙋🏽‍♀️ I’m still showing up.💓 Still putting my health first.💪🏽 Still doing the damn thing.

So if you’re where I am right now—staring at your calendar, wondering how you’re supposed to keep going—please hear this:

🤍 You’re not alone.

🤍 You’re not doing it wrong.

🤍 And you are brave as hell for doing any of it.

Even if today’s version of “doing it” looks like canceling plans and crawling under a blanket—That counts, too.

We don’t talk enough about how hard the “routine stuff” can feel when your medical history is anything but routine. But I’m saying it now—because being proactive about your health takes a kind of courage most people won’t ever understand.❤️‍🩹🥑 And if you do understand? You’re my people.

💫 Here’s to us.We’re doing it—even when it’s hard.And that, my friend, is everything.

🗣️ 💬 If you’ve been putting off that check-up or screening, let this be your gentle nudge.Your health matters.YOU matter.

📅 Schedule the appointment.

Already did it? Drop a 💪🏾 in the comments so we can cheer each other on.We’re in this together.
