Even though I’m starting to physically feel a bit better, he isn’t taking any chances. The truth is, the symptoms I’ve had the last couple of weeks were concerning enough to take a closer look—and for someone like me living with tricuspid valve regurgitation, this test isn’t just routine. It’s essential.
💡 What is an ECHO, and why is it so important?
An echocardiogram (ECHO) is a non-invasive test that uses sound waves to create real-time images of your heart. It shows how your heart valves are working—if they’re opening and closing the way they should, how well your heart muscle is pumping, and whether there’s any fluid buildup or pressure changes that shouldn’t be there.
This isn’t just a “check the box” kind of test. It’s how my doctors stay ahead of any silent changes in my heart before symptoms spiral. That kind of head start can make all the difference.
✨ But here’s something I wish more people knew:You don’t have to wait for symptoms to get worse. An ECHO can be used proactively—to get a baseline, to rule things out, or to investigate unexplained fatigue, breathlessness, or swelling. It’s painless, non-invasive, and potentially lifesaving.
